The microsatellite
consortium is a group of European and international researchers developing microsatellite and VNTR markers as tools for genomic
and genetic analysis, with the potential to develop long term research
funding and catalyse cooperation, especially with SMEs (small to medium enterprises)
and developing countries. SMEs participate directly in the workshops
and are encouraged to develop technology which can be commercially exploited. Researchers from China, Russia, India and Brazil play a direct role in the consortium
and training and knowledge will be transfered to other developing
nations in addition to the new EU member states.
